Special Editions Spec. and pics

Over the 10 years that the Nova was produced, there have been many Special Edition models.
Some where made by Vauxhall, whilst others where Dealer Specials and availability can vary depending on the area of the country.

It's always worth trying to get hold of a special edition model, as you usually get a higher spec for less cash and you often get unique features not seen on other models.

This is a short list of some of the special edition models available over the years and is by no means complete. If you have any more information on any special edition models, or indeed on any other models then please get in touch so that I can add more to the site.

Swing
One of the first Specials, was the Swing, which was launched in 84.
This was available in White, Red or Black. It had a sporty two-tone interior, in dark brown and cream!, with the dash board, carpet and vinyl trim all in black.
This model was only available with the 1.2 Engine.

Club
The Club model was available only in white, with a grey, yellow and white striped interior. On the outside, the bumpers where colour coded and it had the same 5-spoke sports wheel trims as fitted as standard on the SR.
This model is available in D and E registrations and as such had the older front bumper design i.e grill and bumper as one piece.
This model was only available with the 1.2 Engine.

Antibes

The Antibes was available from 86 with the D reg. Initially, it was available in Red, Blue and White, with metallic grey being available later in production.
Red and mt Grey models featured a Red and Grey interior, whilst White and Blue models had a Blue and Grey interior. The carpet, seat centres and door trim inserts where all in either Red or Blue, depending on exterior colour, making the interior very colourful!
See My Car to see My Nova, which is an Antibes.
The early versions had a slide/tilt sunroof, but later models lost the slide/tilt, but gained an SR tailgate spoiler and had a tilt/removable sunroof instead. There where a few models in-between that had both the spoiler and the slide/tilt sunroof.
This model was only available with the 1.2 Engine, but also benefited from a 5-speed box.

Sting
The Sting was available from about 88 to 89, with the F and G reg. These models where only available in white and like the club, had colour coded bumpers and mirror housings. The Sting also got the same grey wraparound tailgate spoiler as the SR.
On the inside, the Sting had SR sports seats (as later spec MKI SR - Grey Velour with Striped fabric centre panels) and the sports dashboard like in the SR, with the rev counter, but lacking the Oil Pressure Gauge and Voltmeter. (6-hole, 4-clock)
Being F to G plates the sting models have the minor face lift features, such as the separate front grill design and the push-button and grab handle on the tailgate.
This model was only available with the 1.2 Engine.

Fling

The Fling details to come soon...

Diamond
The Diamond was made in a couple of guises from 87/88 through to 90.
The earlier Diamond was most popular in Metallic Black and was a slightly better equipped Merit model, with Velour interior and special decals. I'm not sure what else this earlier model had, so if anyone who knows, could e-mail me, I'd be grateful.
The Later Diamond was launched in 90 and was much better equipped than the previous model.
It now came with a choice of either metallic Grey or Blue paint, had the 14" 3-spoke alloys as standard, colour-coded mirror housings, tinted windows with Electric operation on the front, a slide & tilt sunroof, unique interior trim and an SR/GTE steering wheel.
This model was only available with the 1.2 Engine and came with the 5-speed box.
