and why the name NovaBug?
Well, in the UK it was a Car sold by the British arm of GM - Vauxhall. Opel also sold it in Europe, where it was called the Corsa. Is that name familiar?
It's was a great car then and it's still a great car now and what's more, it's cheep and easy to modify! They are the main reasons that over the years, it's consistently been one of the most popular cars on the modified car scene and it's still going strong over 20 years after the first versions rolled off the production line!
You can get a 1 litre base model and turn it into a 300+BHP Turbo if you choose! There's even a few rear-wheel-drive, rear-engined versions about! In Belgium, some nutters made a twin-engined version! Both engines being Turboed 2 litre 16 valves!!!
On a lesser extreme, there's a 1.2, which is pretty nippy, then the 1.3, a 1.4 and a nice 1.6i. There's also 1.5 Diesel and 1.5 Turbo Diesel models!
There's a 3 or 5 door hatch, a 2 or 4 door saloon and even two Cabriolet body styles to choose from.
Combined with plenty of trim levels and loads of special editions, it'a a car with something for everyone.
Anyway, this site is devoted to the Nova, with an Essential Buyer's Guide guide, hints and tips on modifying and other general info
Explore and see what you think. This site is continuously expanding and changing, so don't expect it to look like this next time you visit (which you will ;) )

I bought my first Nova as a "temporary" replacement for my first car, a 1976 Ford MKIII Cortina. (yes...like on the Nescafe ad but without the afro!)
I decided to take if off the road to do a proper restoration and wanted a small, cheap run-around. I bought my first Nova and that's when the NOVABUG struck.
It's an infectious disease that most Nova owners contract. The main symptom is hearing voices, which typically say things like "buy some alloys", "fit a performance exhaust", "lower the suspension", "fit a body kit", "fit a K&N" etc etc...
Once it's got you, there's little point trying to find a cure and you end up spending lots of money modifying your Nova!
My Cortina was sold last year to someone who would restore it properly, since I never found the time to do it and I have since been through FOUR Novas!
I did loose the NovaBug for a while though - I had a very nice MK2 Cav SRi130, but that was stolen 2 years back. I replaced that with an Audi 80 "Sport Edition" but the NovaBUG was still in me and I ended up buying my current GSi! I've currently got a Calibra as well, which I'm doing some work on at the mo (new engine goin in)
So beware......once you buy a Nova, expect the BUG to strike!
